Around the world, costume parties and masquerades hold a special significance as they are considered sacred rituals. These events serve as a way to connect with our ancestral roots and commune with the divine. During these ceremonies, costumes, masks, and makeup (collectively called 'costumes') serve as a gateway to enter the realm of the spirits and embody different personas.
Many indigenous cultures believe costumes are a conduit between the physical and spiritual realms, as a way to connect with ancestral spirits, gods, and other supernatural beings. The act of wearing a mask is often accompanied by rituals, dances, and chants, creating an immersive experience that allows individuals to tap into their spiritual selves.
By donning costumes, the wearer enters a space where the present, the past, the living and the dead, and this world and the Otherworld intersect. Ancient archetypes activate through costumes, with the wearer embodying an ancestral presence, spirit, deity or power, animal, ghoul, or celebrity. The experience of the costume party elevates with music and dance.
Costume rituals are similar to shamanic journeying, and they can induce ecstatic states that allow the power signified by the costume to take possession of the individual wearing it. Costumes allow us to transport into unseen realms, embody ancestors and otherworldly entities, and connect with traditions that stretch back to immemorial.
Connect through costumes, yoga, and music. Gathering in a circle is a tool for enriching communications and optimizing spiritual and physical healing.
DRUM CIRCLE
In Drum Circle, we will flow into intuitive rhythms and chant to access a transformative healing process. Connecting participants to a deeper part of themselves and the larger world around them, therapeutic Drumming is an ancient approach to healing that focuses on self-expression.
Be guided through mantra, breath exercises, static postures, and dynamic movement, followed by a relaxation set with sacred healing sound and a juicy therapeutic stretch. A chill meditation and radiant mantra punctuate the practice to seal the deal for your self-care.
Channel renewal with commitment and intentions to your spiritual, emotional, and physical wellness. 🌱
